Healing Your Cat at Home with the Assisi Loop Lounge™

Many of you may have cats (or other fur companions) who come home from the vet and need additional pain management at home. Truffle had surgery to remove bladder stones this past Spring and she was on pain medication for several days. I always wondered if there was an alternative to the pain medication or additional support to the medication to help her heal. The use of the Assisi Loop® can help pet parents to assist with pain management and healing at home.

What is the Assisi Loop®

The Assisi Loop® offers all animals a safe pain management technology that can be used as a stand-alone therapy or in conjunction with the treatment plan your veterinarian has in place. The Assisi Loop offers pet parents the opportunity to continue healing of their fur companions at home and to take a proactive role in their pet's recovery. The Assisi Loop was developed by Assisi Animal Health. They have a philosophy called the Circle of Care® that states that "animals benefit from a "circle of care" that includes the pet owner, the veterinary professional, and Assisi Animal Health. Pet owners have the advantage of monitoring their animals at home and determining with the assistance of their vet the best course for long-term treatment."

Assisi Animal Health has a collaboration with Sleepypod® to develop and product the Assisi Loop Lounge™.

The Assisi Loop Lounge™

We're excited to talk about the Assisi Loop Lounge™. We were unable to actually test it because it is only available with a prescription from a veterinarian.

The Assisi Loop Lounge is the only therapeutic-pet bed that incorporates a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared, prescription-only pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) technology that is proven in both human and pet research. The Assisi Loop Lounge uses Assisi Loop targeted pulsed electromagnetic field (tPEMF™) technology to deliver a micro-current targeting the body's own anti-inflammatory process. The micro-current enhances nitric oxide production, accelerating the healing of soft and hard tissues, including the skin, tendons, ligaments, bones, and organs. The Loop Lounge is effective treatment alone and can be used adjunctive to other therapies.

The video below describes the Assisi Loop Lounge - Sleepypod Air model.

The Assisi Loop technology is nestled in the Ultra Plush bedding of the Sleepypod Air pet carrier (also available for the Sleepypod Atom), creating a contained, comfortable treatment space that can be used at home or on the go. Therapy is delivered by multiple applicator coils embedded in cushioned, foam therapy pads. The pad has a 10-inch treatment depth that assures nose-to-tail and toes-top-of-ears treatment. A controller box containing rechargeable batteries can deliver 60 treatments on a single charge and last four years before needing to be replaced. The Loop Lounge therapy pads cover the entire floor area of both the Sleepypod Atom and Sleepypod Air.

We received a non-working model of the Assisi Loop Lounge™ - Sleepypod Air. We were able to plug in the controller box to charge it and place the foam therapy pad easily inside the Sleepypod Air. The cord from the pad came out of the top of the Sleepypod Air and connected to the controller box which could be placed inside the side zipper pocket. The vibration and feel of the non-working model didn't deter Truffle and Brulee from entering the Sleepypod Air. In fact, Truffle took a nap inside the carrier.

Personal Comments

I must admit that I'd never heard of the Assisi Loop prior to receiving information from Sleepypod about the Assisi Loop Lounge™. After reading about the benefits of the Assisi Loop for both humans and pets, this is definitely something I will look into purchasing if my girls need additional support for body inflammation and pain management in the future. Truffle and Brulee are already comfortable resting in their Sleepypod® Mobile Pet Beds and Air pet carriers and having the Assisi Loop included would be the ultimate way to treat them with comfort and success for pain management and body inflammation.

To be honest, I wish there was an Assisi Loop Lounge for humans - I sure could use it during my recovery from my recent knee surgery.

  1. I wonder if this would work for Boodie - it was very hard getting her to stay still during her Assisi Loop treatments, even though they did help her when I managed to keep it on her.

  2. I've heard of the assisi loop, but never the assisi loop lounger but I think it's such a clever idea. While I'm all for medication when it's needed, I do like natural options that either make the medication even more effective or can allow us to reduce it. Great info, thanks for sharing.

  3. That's pretty interesting but likely too expensive for us!

  4. This is something I've never heard of before. Interesting for sure. Is it mostly for surgery and sort term pain? My older dog has arthritis and I wonder if it would help for something like that. I'm not sure he'd fit inside any of the Sleepypod models, though.

  6. I've heard really great things about the Assisi Loop for cats dealing with pain and know someone who has used it with success for their senior cat with advanced arthritis.

  9. Wow, this truly sounds amazing especially for senior small dogs and cats who need pain management. Hope all vets will eventually have it available.

  11. This sounds like a great product. I wonder if it would have helped when I had a paralyzed dog? Do they make this product for dogs?

  12. Very avant garde of sleepypod! Sounds great for seniors or those recovering from injuries. I wonder what the impact might be on dogs with bad hearts though.

  13. We are so interested in the Assisi Loop - and are going to try it for Spike's IVDD. I'm not sure if we need the entire SleepyPod bed, but it might be nice just to provide some comfort. this is a great advancement - thank you for bringing the information to us!

  14. I know the Assist Lop by reputation AND by the fact it is veterinary prescription only which hit home as this means it is serious and HAD to be respected.

I would love to get one for Harvey but II dare not think of the cost of getting it here and even asking my vet. Well done Sleepypod for your visionary approach!

  16. Oh, wow. I'm familiar with Asisi Loop but having it as a part of the bed is a genius idea. Not sure how effective it might be but definitely worth of try.

  18. This is great - I did some reading on the loop last week when I wrote about arthritis, this is a cool product to include in an expanded version. Great job Sleepypod for making the technology more available to kitties.

  19. A friend of mine introduced me to the Assisi Loop she used on her ailing Husky with great results. But a Loop Lounge? What a wonderful and helpful concept. Such a great and informative post. Thank you! Pinning to share! Do you know if they make it for larger pets - such as Huskies?

  20. I have heard of the Loop and thought it sounded too good to be true. That sounds pretty amazing.

  21. Mom wishes this would've been around several years ago when her Samoyed doggie was having issues with arthritis and pinched nerves. It may have been just the think that could've made him more comfortable.
