Friday at the Movies

Mom Paula visited a big pet supply store when she was out of town last week and she brought us some gifts back: laser light, food mat, hooded litter box, and a bag of treats. We'd never seen this type of treat before and Mom Paula didn't know if we'd like it or not, but we LOVE them. The treats are Purebites and they are 100% freeze-dried treats. She bought us a (yes, just one!) bag of the chicken flavor not knowing if we'd like them or not. Boy! She made a huge mistake. We both fight her like crazy for these treats. Mom Paula usually leaves the treats on the table beside the couch and we never bother them. However, after feeding us a few of these treats, she left the room for a few minutes and heard a noise. When she walked back into the living room, Truffle was jumping off of the couch with the treat bag in her mouth carrying it away to devour the treats. Unfortunately, Mom Paula didn't have her video camera handy!

Here's a video of us begging for the treats. The video is a little long, but we think you'll enjoy us salivating over these delicious treats. We think Mom Paula needs to go buy a case of them. Unfortunately, they are a little expensive. What does she expect from a couple of diva-in-training ladycats!

Silver Floof

Today we wanted to show you how much our silver floof is coming in. Truffle has always been a little darker from kitten-hood and Mom Terri told Mom Paula last week how surprised she was with all of Truffle's silver. Truffle is very proud to show off her beautiful silver back and floofy tail! Mom Paula can always tell us apart because of Truffle's darker back.

This week Brulee's silver tips are starting to come in. In fact, one night, Mom Paula made the terrible mistake of calling Brulee by the name Truffle. Truffle's tail is still fuller, but Brulee's tail is starting to catch up. Brulee likes to curl her tail into a little twirl like a piglet!

Mom Paula is hoping she can get some good pictures of our silver tips in natural sunlight this weekend.

Pee ess - our grandma bean is having some major hand surgery this morning. Please keep her in your purrs.

We think Mom Paula made a mistake when she bought our tower. It's too small for both of us to fit on top at the same time (unless Brulee pushes herself in!). In her defense, she did buy it before I (Truffle) came to live with her, but didn't she know she would need something just a little bit bigger for when Brulee came?

Mom, Truffle won't share. I think it's time for a bigger cat tree!

Hats of Hope

Mom Judi (JudiBug) of SASS is going through a rough time right now and we on the CB wanted to take a day to thank her for what she's done for the CB. There are many kitties and woofies that have been "hatted" by Mom Judi the past few years and everyone always looks great! So, today, we are either reposting a picture of one of us being "hatted" or a new one of our own to give JudiBug a paws-up of support.

We haven't been "hatted by Mom Judi yet, so Mom Paula tried to put hats on us (which is quite comical), but we wanted to participate. Don't we look quite the southern belles in our bonnets?

Sweet Praline was "hatted" by Mom Judi. We definitely wanted to include our sister-before-us in today's post because she was the grand Southern Belle of them all.

Mom Judi, we are purring that the results of your recent tests give you some answers and that the doctors can help you get better soon!

Mom Paula is back home!!! She isn't supposed to travel again until next month, so we're going to keep her close and take it easy today. Brulee loves to take it easy by lying on her back exposing her tummy while I prefer the comfort of the couch! I can also keep an eye on her from up here.

We have another "smackdown" movie for your viewing pleasure today. You'll notice that Brulee is catching up with me in size and the tussles are a little more fair now. We just like to have fun and will continue with our rough-housing until we each get a mouthful of floof or Mom Paula says in a firm voice, "GIRLS!"

Tummy and Tail Thursday

We know that Tuesday is usually the day we show our tummies, but we had to post about World Spay Day this week, so we saved our first tummy post for today. This past Sunday was Mom Paula's birthday and Brulee gave her a very special present. Sweet Praline always laid flat on her back and exposed her belly. Truffle is very much a southern belle and hasn't exposed her tummy. However, on Sunday when Mom Paula looked down on the floor, she saw Brulee exposing her tummy for the first time. Mom Paula just smiled. She said it was Sweet Praline's way of telling her happy birthday.

Truffle prefers to be a southern belle ladycat and gracefully show off her beautiful "fox" tail. It's as long as her body and very thick. While Brulee was exposing her tummy, Truffle displayed her floofy tail.

World Spay Day

Sparkle told us on FB that today is World Spay Day and to post our pictures from when we were spayed. World Spay Day is an annual campaign of the Humane Society of the United States and the Humane Society International that shines a spotlight on spay/neuter - a proven way to save the lives of companion animals, feral cats, and street dogs who might otherwise be put down in a shelter or killed on the street.

Truffle was spayed on January 30, 2012. Our vet now uses laser surgery and internal stitches for spaying and he shaved very little from Truffle's tummy. Mom Paula tried to get a couple of pictures of Truffle's belly, but it was difficult with all of her floof.

We also wanted to share a picture of Sweet Praline after her spay surgery. You can tell the picture is 16 years old, but we just had to include our sister-before-us in this post.

Brulee is scheduled for her spay surgery on April 23, 2012.

Too Cute - Kittens

Hmmmmm. This looks interesting; especially the part where the momma Persian went after that woofie when he was messing with her babies! Just like the guy on tv said, "don't mess with a Persian."

After being gone for 6 days, Mom Paula is finally home and we're thankful for that!!! She was at a business meeting for the first few days, but then went and visited with Mom Peggy and met Laila and Minchie. Mom Paula said Minchie slept with her last night and Laila actually got within two feet of Mom Paula and rested, but we're glad Mom Paula is back home with us. We stayed right beside her last night when she got home.

Today is Mom Peggy's birthday! Happy Birthday Mom Peggy!!!

Since our names are French/New Orleans in nature, we jumped at the chance to join in the parade.

Sweet Praline's name was also a French/New Orleans dessert and she loved Mardi Gras, too. We wanted to share today's post with our sister-before-us. We're sure she's partying at the Bridge today and leading the parade!

Doppelgänger

This week, we are exploring the "guest" room a little more. We don't know why Mom Paula calls it a guest room because it's purrfect for us. The interesting thing about the ~~our~~ guest room is that there are some doppelgängers (doubles) in here! This is a new word for us, but we like it because it's big. In fiction and folklore, a doppelgänger is a paranormal double representing evil or misfortune. Luckily, for us, the modern day term just means a double. Can you find us among our doppelgängers?

Mom Paula is leaving us this morning for a business trip and then a couple days of vacation! This will be the first time she's left us for more than two nights and we're not so sure how we feel about this. Who will we snuggle with at night? Who will rush to pick us up to cuddle us any time we call for her? Who will keep our floof nice and mat-free?

Many of you may remember the video of Truffle "playing" in the water fountain. The video today revisits the water fountain with Truffle and Brulee. As you will see in the video, Truffle still likes to stick her head under the water fall. This was the first time Mom Paula caught Brulee playing in the fountain. We hope you enjoy the video today.

We really need to stay close to Mom Paula this weekend because she leaves on a business trip next weekend. If everything goes as planned, she'll get to spend some time with Laila and Minchie (and Mom Peggy).

Pee ess - Just a little update on Truffle. She's doing fine after her surgery. Last night was the first night she was ready to "play" with Brulee. In fact, I had to calm her down a little because it's only been a week since her surgery. Thank you again for all of your support for Truffle. Brulee will probably have her surgery sometime in April.

One of the characteristics of the silver shaded Persians is their floofalicious tail! Truffle's tail has been extremely floofy for a few months now. What makes her tail that much more unique is the beautiful silver shading.

The Puppy Bowl

While the beans were watching the Super Bowl, we watched the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet. Brulee was very interested in the puppies and climbed on top of the computer table to get a closer look at the action.

Truffle had no interest in the puppies, but when Mom Paula turned on the big TV in the living room for the Kitten Half Time Show, both Truffle and Brulee showed interest.

Even after Truffle finished watching the half-time show, Brulee hung around on the Ess to continue watching.

This video was taken last week (before Truffle's surgery). Angel Sniffie and the Florida Furkids sent Sweet Praline a toy called Da Bird. Sweet Praline didn't play with it too much, so Mom Paula put it up for safe keeping. She pulled it back out when we came to live with her. Brulee LOVES this toy. Persians aren't known for their leaping skills, but Brulee will leap and cut flips in mid air chasing the feather. Truffle is very dignified in how she plays with it. The video is a little long, but we hope you enjoy it. Mom Paula says it's very hard to move Da Bird around and handle the video camera at the same time!

We're thankful we have each other !

This picture was taken the day after Truffle's surgery. I thought it was so sweet!

Mom Paula: I'm thankful that Truffle is doing well after her surgery. The incision appears to be doing fine. It's amazing to me how much medicine has changed since Sweet Praline was a baby 16 years ago. She had a scar several inches long and Truffle's incision isn't much longer than an inch. The stitches are inside and I don't need to take her back to remove them. Little Brulee seems lost without her big sister playing with her. However, she stays near her wherever she goes, just not right next to her. It's as though she knows Truffle is healing. They haven't fought, hissed, or anything negative since Truffle came home. I'm so glad I didn't wait too long after we lost Beignet before getting Truffle a little sister.

Mom Paula: This was a picture of Truffle and Brulee on Monday morning before Truffle's surgery. Don't they look wonderful on the comforter? Truffle is doing fine since her surgery. The incision still looks okay and she has two more days of pain medication. Brulee has been much calmer with Truffle since I put her in "time out" Monday night after she jumped on top of Truffle. When I let Brulee out in the hallway again (Truffle was sitting outside of the closed door waiting for her), she was much better. She is still staying very close to Truffle and I'm sure she wonders why Truffle isn't playing THoE down the hallway.

Truffle is Home

Truffle came home last night around 8:45 pm (Mom Paula had a meeting after work). She's doing great and so far there have been NO hissy fits between Truffle and Brulee. Mom Paula actually separated the two of us for a little bit because I (Brulee) wanted to play with my sister and Mom Paula was afraid I'd hurt her. At the time of this writing, Mom Paula still isn't sure what she's going to do overnight because both of us usually sleep with her on the bed and she has a tall, four-poster, rice bed.

Becoming a Ladycat

Update: Truffle is out of surgery and doing fine. I won't be able to pick her up until later this evening because of a meeting I have after work. (Thankfully, the vet stays open until 9:00 pm). I received this picture and text message from Truffle this afternoon.

"Just saying "hi"! C u this afternoon. Love, Truffle"

There comes a time in a kitten's life when she must make the transition from a babycat to a ladycat. I guess today is my time. I'm scheduled for my lady gardenectomy this morning. Mom Paula must take me in the PTU to the vet at 7:30 am. Please purr that everything goes well with both the surgery and my recuperation. We weren't being too cooperative with Mom Paula this week for an "action" movie. Mom Paula's former boss, Gail, came over last night to visit with us. Gail's two cats went to the Bridge this past year, too. Gail now has two Ragdoll kittens: Minka and Max. Anyway, she played with us nonstop with daBird and we were exhausted.

Mom Paula caught us on the digital piano and tried to see how we'd react to actually playing the piano. Once she turned it on, we weren't too happy with her.

As you can see from the video, we just wanted to be "glamorous" this week. We don't know how active Truffle will be next week since her lady gardenectomy is Monday. The vet tech said Truffle did great today getting her bloods stolen, but Truffle sang very loudly to Mom Paula all the way there and back.

Thankful Thursday

We are very, very thankful for all of our CB furriends and their beans today. It appears that the mini-auction for Truffle's lady gardenectomy is a success and there will be enough funds to cover her surgery (unless the estimate from the doctor was incorrect) with a little to put into savings to help with Brulee's surgery in a couple of months. The kindness of the CB is so amazing and we don't have enough words to thank everyone for their thoughtful contributions and support.

Truffle goes to the vet this morning for her blood work. She may not like that new cave too much once she see where it will take her today. Truffle made a liar out of Mom Paula this week. The hammick has been out since September when Truffle came to live with Mom Paula and she has totally ignored it. That is, until Mom Paula donated it for the auction and look who decided to test it out! Truffle only stayed in it a couple of minutes and has ignored it since. I think Truffle just wanted to send her scent to the winning bidder. Mom Paula said she'd wash it before mailing it out.

Me (Brulee), I prefer relaxing on Mom Paula's dark blue wool coat. That way she takes a little of me with her every day.

De-Cluttering the Closet

For those of you who used to visit Sweet Praline all the time, you know about the junk closet in Mom Paula's home office. A couple of years ago, Sweet Praline shared a couple of pictures of one of her favorite hidey holes and it was in the junk closet. Here is a snapshot of the embarrassing junk closet.

We admit that we love this junk closet because just like Sweet Praline shared two years ago, it's a great hidey hole. However, for some reason, Mom Paula has started de-cluttering lately. She said something about a fresh start.

Sock-o-holic

As you read on Saturday's post, Brulee has now become a sock-o-holic. Cory, from Cory's Cat Blog, has admitted to secretly teleporting over and showing Brulee the joys of socks. The pictures below show just a few of the socks Brulee has taken all over the house. She never brings a matching pair!

Photo Hunt - Bliss

Today's Photo Hunt theme is "bliss" and we're going to let Brulee be the focus for today. When Brulee is awake, she's usually going at 100% all the time and still squirms like a worm when Mom Paula tries to hold her, brush her, or trim her nails. However, when Brulee gets sleepy, she is totally at "bliss". Here is one of the first pictures Mom Paula took of Brulee when she came to live with us. If this isn't blissful, I don't know what is!

Truffle is the one who carries toys all over the house. Everywhere she goes, she carries a toy and Mom Paula never knows where she will find one (even in the litter box). Last week, Mom Paula walked into the living room and was confronted with individual socks and knee high hosiery all over the place. Mom Paula thought maybe she dropped some when she was folding the laundry until Miss Priss - Brulee, walked in front of her carrying one of her socks. Brulee even fell asleep holding onto the sock as can be seen below. We love how her little pout turns into a smile when she sleeps upside down like this!

Unsolved Mysteries

Maggy and Zoey have asked us to participate in the Unsolved Cat and Dog Mysteries today. At first we were going to share a mystery in our house where Mom Paula caught the culprit, but we went back to the announcement about today and we have to share about a mystery that is still unsolved. For this mystery, we must go back to the days when Sweet Praline lived with Mom Paula.

We hear such wonderful things about Sweet Praline, but Mom Paula says there is one thing she did really well and it's a major mystery to solve. Sweet Praline never "threw up" a nice, tidy hairball and as a result, there are several carpet stains in our house. The mystery is how to get rid of these stains without just taking up the carpet and putting new floor coverings down (which just isn't possible right now). Mom Paula has tried almost every stain remover out there and we still have a couple of stains that just won't go way. What makes this mystery even more suspenseful is that Mom Paula doesn't see the stains until she takes a picture with a flash! Any help with solving the mystery of removing these stains are greatly appreciated.

Pee ess - The biopsies were negative! The doctor is trying some new medicine for Mom Paula and wants her to come back in a couple of months for an colonoscopy. The doctor asked Mom Paula if she had been under any stress the past year. DUH!!!! In the meantime, Mom Paula gets results from bloodwork from another doctor next week and will probably be sent to an ENT to see why she is keeping a nagging cough!!! Thanks for your purrs.

It doesn't matter which room we're in, Truffle is fascinated with the TV. Mom Paula has an old-fashioned TV in her home office where she can watch games and her favorite shows while on the computer. However, lately, Truffle gets up close and personal with the TV. Here she is below watching a basketball game.

Truffle likes to look at all of the athletes and their stats when they are on TV. She even looks away from the game on FB that Mom Paula likes to play.

Of course, when the commercials come on, Truffle focuses on the FB game and sits right in front of the monitor so Mom Paula can't see to play.

Truffle really likes the big TV in the living room. She thinks the shelf the TV rests on is her on personal seat.

Truffle even likes to watch TV from our cat tree. Me (Brulee), I prefer playing with the blinds.

Pee ess - Mom Paula goes back to the doctor today to find out the results of her medical test and biopsies. We're being pawsitive that she's okay, just under a lot of stress.

Between traveling for her job and going to various doctors, Mom Paula is really busy lately (and tired). Truffle decided she wanted to help out in the kitchen. We don't think Mom Paula appreciated this type of help.

We're going to try and take it easy today and this week. Mom Paula was on the road 3 days last week and she's only on the road 2 days this week, but she does go back to the doctor to find out the results of her biopsy on Thursday.

We think if Mom Paula just takes it easy with us that it will heal anything that ails her!

We love our spring toy that Mom Jacqueline sent us a few weeks ago. We also love the box that our food came in. What's the best of all of playing with our spring toy inside our box! Mom Paula hasn't thrown away our big box yet and we get to play in it. One night Mom Paula heard all of this "paper" noise and thought we were in her junk closet. When she got up from the computer to see what we were up to, she saw us in our box playing like crazy. When she looked closer, she saw that we had brought our spring toys inside the box and that's why we were making so much noise.

Here's a little video of us playing with our spring toy inside our box. The first part is Brulee playing in the box and the second half shows Truffle inside the box with Brulee going crazy outside the box! Watch for my reaction towards the end of the video when Brulee jumps in the box with me. I'm like, "What was that?"

It was a beautiful weekend in SC and Mom Paula left the front door open for us (she made sure she locked it because Brulee has slipped out a couple of times lately, but Mom Paula caught her before she got 6 inches out the door). We couldn't believe how wonderful this big Bird TV was! There were all types of critters outside, including the human variety. Brulee had to stand on her tippy toesies to see out, but Mom Paula thought this picture was cute of us!

Pee ess - I'm (Truffle) starting to get a little nervous about my lady gardenectomy in a few weeks. Mom Paula is too, so we'd appreciate you starting your purrs a little early.

We wanted to do a little "play on words" today to let everyone know where our names and the name of our blog came from. Everything about our blog and our names are in honor of Sweet Praline. When Sweet Praline went to the Bridge last April and Mom Paula decided she wanted to bring some more fur babies into her life, she started thinking about how she could continue blogging in Sweet Praline's honor and memory, but not replace her blog. Sweet Praline's blog name was actually part of her registered name: Miss Paula's Sweet Praline. Praline got her name because Mom Paula loved the praline candy and icecream and when she saw Praline with her coloring and sweet little face, she knew her name had to be Praline.

Mom Paula wanted to honor Praline by thinking of names of New Orleans/French confections because that was the origin of Praline's name. Then it just "popped" into Mom Paula's head, confections rhymes with perfections and using a play on the word "purr", our new blog became Sweet Purrfections.

That was the easy part. Next, came our names. Mom Paula and Auntie Deb began doing research on the Internet about names of New Orleans/French confections and desserts that were white in color. The first name was easy - Truffle. Mom Paula saw pictures of white chocolate truffles and she said that name was purrfect.

Auntie Deb helped Mom Paula come up with the name, Beignet, because of the soft and white beignets pastries from Cafe Dumonde in New Orleans. Unfortunately, little Beignet was called to the Bridge too early and Mom Paula said she wouldn't give that name to another furchild because that name was given to him.

It took Mom Paula almost six weeks to decide to bring in another sibling for me. The search began again for another name that would honor Praline. Mom Paula and Auntie Deb spent hours on the phone and Internet trying to find names for my future sister. Mom Paula's mother and sister even got in on the name search. One day while on the phone with Mom Paula, Auntie Deb happened to mention the dessert - creme brulee - and the light went off. Mom Paula said Brulee would be purrfect for my new little sister.

Brulee (pronounced brew-lay)

The funny thing is that Mom Paula doesn't really like truffles or creme brulee, but the names are purrfect for us and help us honor and remember Praline. We are very thankful to Auntie Deb for all of her help in finding our unique names and for being such a special friend to Mom Paula.

So, now you know the background about our names and the name of our blog. We think they are purrfect!

Our Gamecocks won the Capital One Bowl yesterday, beating the Nebraska Cornhuskers. This was the first time in South Carolina football history that they've every won 11 games. Mom Paula is pretty excited.

Watching Firecrackers

Mom Paula didn't know how we'd react to the firecrackers on New Year's Eve! The very first time Sweet Praline was exposed to firecrackers, she took off at full speed into the closet. When the firecrackers started going off around 8:00 pm, we were very curious about them and watched them from our window for several hours.

Remembering Our Furriends

The CB is such a special place!!! Mom Paula found the CB 3 1/2 years ago through Jasper McKitten-Cat's dad and began blogging about Sweet Praline. Mom Paula has met so many people over the past few years and has become personal friends with many (actually meeting them in person). The CB was there for Mom Paula when Sweet Praline became sick and ultimately crossed the Bridge in April and when Beignet died one week before he was supposed to come live with her in August. Mom Paula has saved all of the emails that were sent to her and many of you called her and made contributions to various charities in Sweet Praline's name and even supported her financially with all of the vet bills. We wanted to pay it forward to all of our furriends on the CB in someway and that's when we thought of putting together a Memory Slideshow of all of the CB furriends who've left us in 2011 (very similar to what you see on TV with all of the beans that go to Heaven each year on New Year's Eve). Mom Paula literally went back to the CB post for January 1, 2011 and found every graphic that was posted for the year, so we hope we didn't leave anyone out. Mom Paula has shed many a tear while putting this together and will probably shed more. Thank you to all of you for your support to Sweet Praline, Beignet, and Mom Paula this past year. We love you!

We want to pause a moment to also remember Sweet Praline in all of her glory and "diva-tude." She was a very special ladycat and we are working very hard to live up to her standards.

And a special memory for our little brother, Beignet, who God called to Heaven to be by His side.

We hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year. Once again, we love you!

For your entertainment today, we are showing you how we like to have a good "smackdown". Brulee is still smaller than me, but she has no fear and will "attack" me at will! The kitties from Jacqueline's Cat House sent us a surprise present a couple of weeks ago and they were pretty smart to include TWO Kong toys for us to play with. You will notice in the video that I was playing with MY Kong toy when Brulee decided she wanted it, too! Never mind that HER Kong toy was sitting right there! The result is the video below!

I never get a moment's peace since the "wild child" came to live with us!

Note from Mom Paula: Truffle and Brulee get along amazingly well. One would think they were littermates, even though Truffle is 12 weeks older than Brulee. Brulee has shown no fear since coming to live with us. She gives Truffle back everything Truffle gives her. As you watch the video and they are one big ball of white and silver floof, you can tell who is crying "uncle" by their meows. Brulee still has the little squeak (that's the one I usually hear), but the meow belongs to Truffle. I just adore these two little floofballs! They've helped heal the hole that Sweet Praline left in my heart!

We are thankful today for a new pet food website that we were invited to review. A very nice gentleman from Mr. Chewy sent an email to Angel Sweet Praline's account asking her to consider visiting and reviewing their website and in exchange they would let her order $50 worth of food. Mom Paula was a little skeptical at first, but visited the website and it appeared legitimate. However, Mom Paula is a very honest person, so she wrote the nice gentleman back and let him know that Sweet Praline went to the Bridge last April, but that she now had both of us on a new blog and wanted to know if we could take him up on the offer. He wrote back and sent condolences and told us to try it out. We were very excited and went to the site to see if our food was there. Our crunchy food, Royal Canin Kitten 36 was available, but they didn't have our canned food, Fancy Feast Kitten. We immediately wrote the nice gentleman back and asked about the Fancy Feast and he said they didn't currently carry the kitten food, but they would put it in the request.

We decided to check out the different varieties of kitten dry and canned food to see what was available. There were over 300 different brands/flavors of canned food and 18 different brands/varieties of kitten canned food. We chose to try out the Chicken Soup for the Kitten Lover's Soul. There were 172 different brands/flavors of dry food and 23 different brands/flavors of kitten dry food. We placed the order and to our surprise, less than 5 days later, this huge box arrived on our doorstep.

We were very impressed with how quickly it arrived, because in the past when Mom Paula would order special food for Sweet Praline online, it would take a couple of weeks to arrive. Secret Paws

Mom Paula finally let us open our Secret Paws gift! We were very surprised and pleased to receive a package from New Zealand! It was from Rumbles and Diego. We thoroughly examined the bag it came in. We thought Rumbles may be hiding inside!

Well, what's inside Mom?

When Mom Paula opened the bag, there was a smaller brown bag inside. We thought for sure Rumbles would be in there, but he wasn't.

I don't think Rumbles was able to sneak out of New Zealand.

We received the cutest stuffed penguin and kiwi. When you press them, they sound just like the real thing.

Mom Paula took a little video of us inspecting our presents from Rumbles. The sounds they make really cause us to be curious. The video is a little dark, but you can see us "up close" and personal with our presents.

Photo Hunt - Surprise

Today's Photo Hunt theme is "surprise". We tend to surprise Mom Paula almost daily, but this is the special surprise that Mom Paula tends to wake up to in the morning! It's a little blurry because Mom Paula had to grab the flashy box quickly before Brulee was on top of her. Isn't this the cutest surprise to wake up to?

Hi Mom!

I almost gave Mom Paula a "surprise" this week. Many of you will remember that Mom Paula has a cluttered home office from when she left her job as a college professor and she hasn't gotten rid of all of the papers yet. Just look at the surprise Mom Paula saw when she turned around the other day.

I wonder what would happen if I tapped this pile of papers with my paw.

Mom Paula quickly grabbed me, afraid that tower of papers would fall on top of me. I think she was really worried that she'd have to go through them if I knocked them down. I think I'll save that for another day!

One final "surprise". We received our Secret Paws package this week and it was from Rumbles in New Zealand! Our only disappointment was that he didn't manage to mail himself to us. MOL! We'll share pictures in a couple of days. Mom Paula is chasing us around the house trying to get a family photo for Christmas!

Jacqueline's Cat House sent us a neat Christmas package last week and we've already shared our video last week of us playing with the springs. Today, we'd like to share a video of us playing in the crinkle tunnel. I think I love this toy most of all and rarely let Brulee get in it with me. Mom Paula keeps thinking I'm into stuff I shouldn't be when she hears the noises of me running through it, but then she realizes I'm in the tunnel.

We apologize for the darkness of the first part of the video, but Mom Paula didn't have a chance to turn on the overhead light when I started playing in the tunnel.

Recuperating - UPDATE at BOTTOM of POST

Brulee went to the vet yesterday and Dr. Boyette said she was doing great. She weighs a little over 3 pounds and was as active as ever. In fact, Dr. Boyette had to grab her right before she tried to jump off of the examination table. She came home from the vet and ate her breakfast and was doing really well.

When Mom Paula got home last night from her office Christmas party, Brulee didn't meet her at the door as usual. Mom Paula found her sleeping on the back of the couch. When Mom Paula fixed our evening meal, Brulee sniffed the food and walked away. She was also favoring her leg where she received the shot. Mom Paula is a little concerned, but everything she's read says that this is something that may occur after the vaccination. I'm keeping my paws crossed she's okay this morning (we posted this last night).

This is where Brulee stayed most of the evening last night.

Mom Paula: I know I'm a worrywart, but I won't feel better until Brulee is back to her bouncy self. I'll update everyone today. Even Truffle wasn't playing last night, yet she wasn't comforting Brulee either. It's as if she knew Brulee needed some time to recuperate from her vaccination.

Update from Mom Paula: Brulee appears to be feeling better this morning. She was crawling all over me in the bed and her little head perked up when I mentioned something to eat. She immediately began eating and I didn't see the "limp" in her walk this time and she was purring when I petted and held her. I think she's going to be okay. I must admit - I do tend to worry a little more than usual after what happened to little Beignet. I feel like a new mom must feel! Here is Brulee this morning, eating breakfast with Truffle.

We love the keyboard in Mom Paula's office. The keys are softer than the piano keys in the living room and the bench is cushioned (not like the wooden one at the piano). Brulee is trying to show Mom Paula a few things about playing the piano.

Some of you are doing very well telling us apart. Here are some of the clues:

Brulee is smaller (she's not quite 4 months old yet and Truffle will be 7 months old on January 2).
Truffle has more "silver" in her floof, especially on her face and back.
Brulee's ears have "pink" skin and Truffle's ears have "gray" skin.
Brulee has a red nose and Truffle has a black nose.
Truffle is calm and Brulee is wild (This is Mom Paula's comment) as is evidenced by the photo below.

Easy Like Sunday

Mom Paula finally cleaned off her electronic keyboard in the home office last week so she could practice a solo she has with the choir at church tomorrow. Of course, we had to investigate and claim it as ours. We'll share several photos over the next few days, but this one shows a very "peaceful" moment on the bench before we started playing.

We figured we better remind you who is who in case some of you haven't figured out how to tell us apart yet! Brulee is on the left enjoying the bath that Truffle (right) is giving her!

Photo Hunt - Joy

Today's Photo Hunt theme is "joy". Brulee was full of joy to meet Cody last night. Cody was Sweet Praline's special furriend and he also met Truffle in September. Cody is the son of Mom Paula's best friend, Janet, and Cody has Down's Syndrome. Last night was the first time Cody met Brulee.

When Cody first came in the house, Truffle was a little shy (she's in her "teenage" stage), but Brulee came right up to him. Cody immediately emptied all of the toys out of the basket and Brulee and Cody played for a long time! It was such a joy to see each of them enjoying each other's company.

Today's movie features us playing with one of our new toys that Jacqueline's Cat House sent us, the "spring". Even though there were several springs in the bag, we both insisted on playing with the same one. Brulee is so fast that she goes in and out of the picture. I (Truffle) had enough of her playing with my spring that I just picked it up and carried it off.

We hope we've brought a smile to your face today.

The CB was saddened to hear about Admiral's crossing of the Bridge yesterday. Mom Carole is in our thoughts as she grieves over her loss.

Mom Paula came in the house last night carrying in a package with our names on it!

It was from Jacqueline and all of the kitties at Jacqueline's Cat House. We were so excited that this was our first Christmas present that Mom Paula agreed to let us open it. She said we will have to wait until Christmas to open our Secret Paws present when we get it. Just look at all of this stuff!

Of course, Brulee would like the string more than the stuff inside!

We both received a Kong nip toy, some Temptations, bunches of balls, mice, crinkle toys, and some springs (those are fun!). Mom Paula received two nice picture frames so she can display us in her office in style.

Mom Paula was taking too long to get all of those toys out of the plastic bags. Would you believe she only let us have a couple last night???

One of the biggest surprises was the "crackle tunnel". Mom Paula barely had it opened when I (Truffle) jumped inside. I just love the sounds the tunnel made when I played inside of it with my spring toy.

Mom Paula just won't give up with the holiday collars. She tried switching the green/red collar with bells on it from Brulee to me. I refuse to look into the flashy box with this ridiculous thing on my neck!

Brulee isn't much happier with the snowflake collar. Mom Paula tried telling her that Sweet Praline wore this last year with dignity! Brulee didn't care. In fact, she started ripping off the snowflakes. Mom Paula quickly got the collar off of her after this photo. Just look at the "not amused" face Brulee is giving Mom Paula.

We've had a really busy week this week helping Mom Paula foster the little house panther kittens. We're going to take it easy today and try to help Mom Paula rest.

We're still purring for Ginger Jasper. He's home for 48 hours for some "quality" time in hopes that he'll begin eating. Please visit his blog and send your best healing purrs for GJ and some comforting headbutts for Mom Carol.

Pee ess - Mom Paula wanted to assure everyone that those scissors were all the way under the window sill and she removed them after the picture. We never even noticed them. Right . . .

It Wasn't Me!

Brulee won second place in Jaime's Halloween Pet Photo Contest. Her prize package arrived this week and Mom Paula put it in the hallway.

We finally convinced Mom Paula to open the package and we'll share some of those photos later. Mom Paula put the box off to the side and when she walked into the living room yesterday morning, this is what she found.

Friday at the Movies

We want to share some good news before sharing our Friday movie. The two house panther kittens were rescued by Joe and Alyssa. It turns out that Alyssa does this privately and rescues kitties and woofies and finds forever homes for them. She thinks she already has a lady who wants them who lost her kitty to the Bridge on Monday. We are so thankful for people like Joe and Alyssa. We're going to miss seeing the little house panthers from our bird TV, but we think Mom Paula is relieved that she only has the two of us to look out for now.

We've discovered treats!!!!! I've loved treats since Mom Terri brought me to Mom Paula in September. Brulee was younger when she came to live with us and she wasn't really eating treats yet. That's all passed now! We love treats! I must admit that I'm a little piggy when it comes to treats and have literally taken a treat from Brulee's mouth before Mom Paula could get it out of her fingers. Mom Paula has resorted to holding me while she gives Brulee her treat. Our movie today is of us enjoying treats. We apologize for the quality because we were so excited about our treats that Mom Paula couldn't get a good video. Did you know Temptations has kitten treats??? We just found those this week.

Thankful Thursday

We're going to take a break from being playful kittens and be serious for a moment. We are so thankful to be in a loving home with Mom Paula who spoils us rotten and we have plenty to eat, a warm/cool house and lots of loving. We are so sad for the kitties out there who have no home.

Mom Paula is so discouraged with the rescue groups in South Carolina (especially where we live). Sunday night, two black kittens showed up at our house. They are beautiful house panthers and are very friendly, so it's obvious they've been raised around humans. Mom Paula couldn't bring them inside because Brulee hasn't had all of her shots yet. However, Mom Paula put some old towels in a box and opened up her storage building for the kittens and has fed them every day. The neighbor has been calling people in the neighborhood and no one claims to know who the kittens belong to.

Mom Paula has called every rescue center/shelter in our area (except for the county pound) and everyone has turned her down. One rescue organization actually wanted Mom Paula to take the kittens to the vet, get their shots, have them dewormed, get their flea treatment, and have them spayed/neutered before accepting them and then wouldn't guarantee there would be room. Another rescue group actually wants you to pay a $100 deposit to bring kittens there and leave them. Mom Paula has been so sad over this. The kittens are very friendly and have actually slipped inside the neighbor's house when she opened the door. We think there is a nice lady who wants to take both of them (YES) tomorrow. She would have taken them today, but it was raining when she came to our neighbor's house and the kittens were hiding. Please keep your paws crossed these beautiful house panthers will find a forever home quickly. It's getting cold here!

Bouncing Brulee

I swear, that little sister of mine, Brulee, never stays still!!! I don't think I was ever this active.

As you can see from the photos below, she was all over the cat tree last night when Mom Paula was trying to take her picture with the flashy box. And Mom Terri thought I was the hard one to get a photo of . . .

We finished the Secret Paws match up last night and sent an email notification to everyone. Please let us know if you didn't receive your email.

Also, we want to take a moment to ask everyone to send special purrs to Ginger Jasper, who was one of Sweet Praline's favorite mancats. His kidneys are failing and we are very worried about him.

Our Opinion about Mondays

We don't like Mondays because that means Mom Paula has to go back to work. Today is even worse because Mom Paula was working on Saturday and only had one day home with us. Here's what we think about Mondays!

We're working really hard to have your Secret Paws match to you by tomorrow. Mom Paula was traveling on Saturday and had to play the piano at church Sunday morning, had choir practice after church, and had to go back to church for a solo at a Christmas special Sunday night. There are 50 different households participating in the Secret Paws and we need to make sure we match up people based on the location and preferences.

Easy Like Sunday

Mom Paula is finally home from her 4 days on the road this week. We're going to take it easy while she's gone to church and choir practice because we have a lot of work to do tonight to sort through all of the Secret Paws stuff.

Many of you have asked about our sleeping situation at night. Yes, we do sleep with Mom Paula. This is how we usually start out the evening with me (Truffle) on top of the pillows and Brulee beside Mom Paula on one of Sweet Praline's Peggy Blankies. Mom Paula usually wakes up with both of us on top of her!

Trying to Get the Christmas Card Photo

Mom Paula has been trying to get a good photo of the two of us together for our Christmas Card this year. As you can imagine, we aren't being too cooperative.

Brulee's Christmas collar has bells on it and that could be the problem. Mom Paula is going to try and switch them to see if she can get a picture. Keep your paws crossed! We may have to send electronic cards this year instead of the snail mail kind if this keeps up.

Friday at the Movies

Mom Paula remembered late last night that we had to post a video for our Friday at the Movies post. She pulled out her Flip Video, but we weren't too cooperative tonight. Brulee kept running in and out of the video and I just sat there like the princess I am. We hope you enjoy the video anyway.

Thankful Thursday

We're thankful that Mom Paula is finally home. She's been traveling for her job this week and got back home last night. It was our first time by ourselves overnight since Brulee came to live with us. Unfortunately, Mom Paula is on the road again Friday and Saturday.
