Kong Triangle Play Mat Review

Brulee attempting to get her treat from inside the KONG Triangle Play Mat
Disclaimer: We received the KONG® Triangle Play Mat in exchange for our fair and honest review. No money exchanged hands (or paws). Chewy.com is not responsible for the contents of this post. The opinions expressed herein are our own.

We received a really cute mat from chewy.com as part of the Chewy Blogger Outreach Program as part of the November review.  We know, we know!  It's already December, but we had a lot happening last month. We wanted to share our experiences with the KONG® Triangle Play Mat. The KONG Triangle Play Mat for cats is designed to promote exercise and fulfill a cat's natural desire to chase, hunt, and capture.  The mat folds into a triangular shape with a dangling catnip mouse for those kitties who like to hide inside objects and swat at dangling mice.  The dimensions of the mat are 14.5 x 12 x 0.5.
Brulee demonstrates the combination of a plush and scratching interior on the mat

When you open the mat and lay it flat, there is a snuggly portion and a section for scratching.  We really liked this part of the mat, but we have a lot of scratching posts around the house.  We do like to play in tunnels and hide from each other, so we thought this would be purrfect for us.  The description for the KONG Triangle Play Mat states that it's for extra small breeds.  Even though we have a lot of floof, we only weigh between 7 and 8 pounds.  When the mat was folded into a triangle, we couldn't get inside of it.
Truffle outside of the tunnel

We really like the concept of a combination of a mat for resting and scratching that turns into a tunnel to play in, but this is a little small for us.  We believe it would be purrfect for someone who fosters or has little kittens.  In fact, we decided to donate the mat to our local rescue, where there are lots of kittens.  The worker at the rescue promised us she would share photos of kittens playing in it and we'll be sure to share those when we receive them.

The KONG Triangle Play Mat appears to be well made and we definitely recommend it for someone with kittens.  The mat on the chewy.com website is purple in color and we received the pink and red one.  We think the colors are great and the material meets the needs of cats to scratch, play and relax. It's a little too small for regular (or petite) size cats. Our recommendation to KONG would be to make this in a larger size so we can enjoy playing inside.  The mat is currently on sale at chewy.com for $10.92, so if you have small kittens, you should rush out and grab these while they are available.

We want to remind our readers of the excellent customer service chewy, com provides.  Shipping is extremely fast and is free if you order $49+.

  1. That last pic is just adorable!
What a neat playmat the Kong is. We wish we had one when the kittens were young. It would be great for the little ones to play inside.
    Have a great Caturday, friends!

  8. That is the furthest we have seen any kitty be able to get into the triangle. Giving it the rescue is the purrfect plan. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  9. Yep, that triangle is definitely kitten size. But it looks well made.

  10. You and Melissa's Mudpie win the prize for getting way inside. We loved it & tried and tried to stuff ourselves in but just couldn't make it! However, we agree, the screeching side is enticing. The shelter will have fun with it.
