We Got Tuna!

We never get to eat fish in our household because Truffle has had violent reactions to any type of food that had herring in it and Mom Paula had always heard bad things about feeding too much tuna, so we've pretty much been on the "feather" diet (turkey, chicken, and duck).  However, we were given the opportunity by chewy.com to review BFF (Best Feline Friend) and all of their flavor pouches contain tuna.
Brulee and Truffle sniffing out the b.f.f. pouch

BFF is produced in a facility that also produces food for people.  The factory operates at international human food processing standards, including that of the super-strict British Retail Consortium (BRC) and the pet processing must pass BRC scrutiny.
Truffle is a little impatient because the bowls are empty

The main ingredient is a red meat or dark meat from tuna, primarily skipjack or bonito, two smaller and highly sustainable species.  The cuts contain lean muscle meat and have a taste aroma that drives kitties wild!  Included along with the tuna are value added toppers such as boneless skinless chicken breast, duck, lamb, salmon, shrimp and pumpkin.  The specific recipes sold on the chewy.com website are:  tuna and chicken charm me, tuna and duck devour me, tuna and salmon sweet cheeks, tuna and turkey tickles, tuna and lamb luv ya, and tuna and beef baby cakes.  We received the BFF tuna and beef baby cakes to sample.
Both Brulee and Truffle "dug right in"

Additional information from chewy.com about the BFF pouches are the Key Benefits:
  • Delicious flavor cats can't resist
  • Convenient pouches are easy to open
  • Grain-free formula, a common allergy trigger for cats
  • Taurine guards the heart
  • Approximately 60 calories per pouch
  • Can be served as a standalone diet or as a topper for dry food
Brulee LOVES this food!

Many of you know that Brulee is very finicky about her food.  She usually has to be coaxed to the bowl to eat her stinky goodness, with Mom Paula sometimes tempting her with a few sprinkles of freeze-dried chicken on top.  None of that was needed for the BFF Tuna and Beef Baby Cakes. Brulee went right to the bowl and immediately began eating.  She even cleaned her plate.  Well almost . . . Truffle finished the few remaining morsals.  Some additional information from BFF is that all of the fish used in the recipes is wild caught, with the exception of tilapia.  The catches of fish are also certified to have been safe for dolphins and turtles, as certified by the ship's captains.
Truffle ate all of her food and finished up the few remaining morsels in  Brulee's bowl.

The BFF pouches are currently on sale for $10.99 for 12 pouches at chewy.com.  We would definitely try some of the other flavors since we like turkey, duck, and chicken.  The BFF cat food pouches are made by the parent company, Weruva, and we LOVE that food and have been eating it for quite a while.  Mom Paula talked to the vet about us eating tuna and she said it was okay as long as it wasn't our main diet.  We were pleased with that because we really, really, really did like this food.  Mom Paula says we'll probably get to eat one serving a week, mixed in among our feather diet (and our new favorite:  rabbit).

As always, we really support chewy.com.  They have the largest variety of cat food and treats and they are reasonably priced when you buy in bulk.  We sometimes wish they would sell individual cans so we could try out the different flavors before buying cases.  Chewy.com offers free 2-day shipping for orders over $49.  They've been nothing but nice to us and we'll continue to buy products from them online (when we have the green papers) and recommend them to others.
We're still eating this delicious food!

We received the BFF cat pouches free from chewy.com and were not compensated for our review.  Our opinions are our own and we stand by them.  Now, back to our food...

Pee ess - We didn't have a video this time because we attacked this food so fast, there was no time to switch cameras.  That should tell you how delicious this food was.

  10. Once upon a time, BFF Tuna was Uncle Bhu's favorite food. He wouldn't eat anything else. We were buying it by the case and then, all of a sudden, he just wouldn't eat it anymore. I wish he would because I felt really good about buying it and giving it to him. It is excellent food, everything you say.
