Halloween Treat

Happy Halloween to all of our furriends!

We know all the humans out there look forward to eating all of the chocolate that's left over (or the special candy bars they put aside), but we kitties can't eat chocolate.  Instead, we love to eat delicious stinky goodness.  Our friends at chewy.com recently contacted us about try a new variety of Merrick: Purrfect Bistro Grain Free canned food.  We were familiar with Merrick's canned food because that's one of the only brands of canned food Angel Sweet Praline would eat the last year before she left for the bridge.  Her favorite flavor was the Turducken.  Once we became adult kitties, Mom Paula let us try some of the Merrrick Turducken and we loved it.

There are 16 different flavors of the Merrick Purrfect Bistro Grain free canned foods.  We tend to stay away from anything with fish in it because of Truffle's sensitive tummy and we were very impressed to see 12 different varieties of chicken, turkey, duck, or beef!  Chewy.com graciously sent us two different varieties to try:  the Chicken Pate and the Beef Wellington.
Brulee checking out the chicken pate

The first variety we tried was the Chicken Pate because we love chicken (or any feather food).

Both of us immediately dug into the chicken pate and cleaned our plates.  This food was very easy for Brulee to eat because she tends to eat with her tongue (a Persian thing).  Of course Truffle took big bites of her chicken pate.
Brulee "licking" her chicken pate

We also tried the Beef Wellington and really liked the flavor.  Brulee licked all of the gravy and had to be coaxed to eat the slices with crumbs of her freeze-dried treats on top.  Mom Paula has to do that with any food that isn't pate or shredded for Brulee because of the way she eats.  Truffle ate every bite and moved over to Brulee's bowl to finish the left overs.

We're very impressed to find out the Merrick Purrfect Bistro is grain-free and healthy for us. According to the description on chewy.com's website:

Purrfect Bistro - It's what cats lick their whiskers for! Every Purrfect Bistro recipe starts with 70% healthy proteins & fats and features deboned meat as the number one ingredient. They are 100% grain free and high in Omega 6's & 3's. This royally divine dish is lovingly prepared in Merrick's kitchen with chunks of sliced beef, chicken, peas and cranberries — your cat will come running and ready to clean their dish. Not all brands make their own food but Merrick puts cooking and quality under one roof. Their five-star kitchen and manufacturing facilities uphold the strict guidelines well defined by the FDA. All Merrick formulas source farm fresh ingredients locally to ensure the highest quality.

Merrick takes a simplistic  yet innovative approach during recipe creations.  Merrick uses real whole foods that are locally sourced and processed as little as possible in order to retain the natural benefits.  Merrick states that they hold true to their five star promises to ensure their food is of the highest standard.

We give Merrick Purrfect Bistro Grain-free canned food 4 paws up.  We were already a fan of the Merrick brand, but hadn't had the opportunity to try the different flavors.  We'll definitely continue to try different flavors and eat the Merrick food.

We were not paid for this review and chewy.com sent us cans of the Merrick food free.  We also want to mention that chewy.com carries a large variety of food and treats for kitties and woofies at very reasonable prices.  The delivery time once an order is placed is extremely quick and we love the boxes!  Chewy.com offers free 1-2 days shipping for orders of $49+ and provides the option of auto-shipping.

Pushy Little Sister

Truffle:  Many of you noticed that I was almost falling off the chair in our Easy Like Sunday post this week.  I wanted to show the sequence of events of what truly  happened.  My little sister decided she was cold and just pushed her way into the chair with me and almost pushed me off.  I must admit it was warmer though.

Brulee:  In my defense, Truffle was already resting on the edge of the chair anyway.  I just took the opportunity to get some warmth.

Boolatry

We've tinted our floof and put on our big, scary eyes (well, maybe big, but not all that scary!) ... and are all set to appear on BOOLATRY today.

It turned cold in the South this weekend, so we're snuggling up on this Easy Sunday.

Photo Hunt - Stir

We think Truffle is about to stir up some trouble with Mom Paula's Gamecock bag.

We think we need to stir Mom Paula into action to help us visit our furriends!

Friday at the Movies - Truffle and the Nip Nanner

Mom Paula woke up yesterday morning and Truffle had brought her nip nanner to bed during the night.  You can see how "floppy" her nanner has become because Truffle loves it so much.

Notice how Brulee photo bombs Truffle at the end of the video.  We hope you've enjoyed our week with the nip nanner.

An update on Mom Paula's shoulder - the pain isn't as bad as it was too weeks ago.  The cortisone shot really helped with the inflammation.  Mom Paula needs to take her anti-inflammatory meds more often, but she said they bother her stomach.  She's going to PT twice a week.  She was scheduled to see the surgeon next Tuesday, but the physical therapist convinced her to give him an additional two weeks to work with the shoulder before deciding on surgery.  There is still a chance surgery is in her future.

Thankful Thursday

In keeping with the theme this week, we're thankful for our nip nanner (especially Truffle).  Truffle is very protective of this nip nanner because it was sent to us from Mom ML.  We hate it's wearing out because the person who sent it to us is very special to us. Mom Paula noticed it was very "floppy" and found a hole in the seam when Truffle has played hard and a lot of the nip is gone!  As you can see in the picture below, Truffle showed the nip nanner who was boss.  Just look at that determined little face and strut!

Brulee doesn't really play with the nip toys; she just licks them.  She prefers the interactive toys!  Of course it could be the fact that Truffle doesn't give her a chance to play with the nip toys.  MOL!
This is my nip nanner!

Truffle Tuesday

For those of you who guessed that Truffle would get to the Nip Nanner first, you'd be correct.  Truffle just loves bunny kicking her nanner, but you can't tell where her feet are because of all of the floof.

Nip Nanner Monday

Just who will get to the Nip Nanner first!?!

We promise our carpet doesn't look like this.  There's something about the flash in the hallway that brings out old stains that are invisible to the eye.  Mom Paula says this is Sweet Praline making her presence known.

Photo Hunt - Zip

Truffle loves her stylish carrier (she refuses to call it a PTU).  She likes to snuggle in the bottom and let Mom Paula zip it up!
Brulee can't understand why Truffle likes to be "zipped" in!

Pee ess - Our Gamecocks are playing the Tennessee Volunteers today at 12:00 noon EST on ESPN. We know our furriend, Jasper McKitten-cat is pulling for the Vols,  but we hope our chickens beat those hound-woofies by thirty to zip!  MOL!

Friday at the Movies - Baby Truffle and the Scratching Post

We'd hoped to have a new video for you this week, but Mom Paula has been exhausted at night with it being her first full week back at work.  Instead, we went back to a "flashback Friday" to bring you a cute little video of Baby Truffle the first month she was living with Mom Paula in September 2011.
Baby Truffle on the scratching post

Truffle was into everything as a kitten.  She never stopped and this little video shows how crazy she could be.  We posted the video 2 years ago, but thought you'd enjoy it again.  We'll try to get a new video next week.

Thankful Thursday

We're thankful Mom Paula is unpacking the blue suitcase instead of packing it!  She's home at nights for at least a month!  It was so nice to have her back in our bed with us Monday night!
This suitcase isn't going anywhere anytime soon - Truffle

Brulee thinks if she settles in and puts her paw down that the blue suitcase won't leave again.

Order your CB Cat Calendar

We're getting the calendars pretty quickly now (about a 7-10 day turn-around), so we've open back up the ordering for them.  You can order a 2014 Cats of the CB calendar here or click on the graphic on our sidebar.  As you can tell, we love the left over boxes once they're removed to ship them.

Pee ess - it's time for the Secret Paws again!  We'll try to have the announcement up by the end of the week for those who want to participate!

Easy Like Sunday

It's been a long week so we're taking it easy today.  Unfortunately, Mom Paula has to spend a couple more night woofie sitting Bandit.  She promised to come home after church today and spend the afternoon with us.

Practicing with Mom

Today we're saying goodbye to Uncle Bill as he travels to the human bridge.  Mom Paula is scheduled to sing two songs for the funeral today and we've been helping her practice.

We thought we'd include the songs below of Mom Paula practicing for those who are interested in hearing her sing.  We're asking for purrs and purrayers for strength for her to get through the songs. We hope you enjoy these because we worked hard in practice.  We don't know if these players will work or not, but we thought we'd give it a try.

Friday at the Movies - Showing Our Tocks

Mom Paula has been trying (rather unsuccessfully) to get a picture of our floofy tocks for Tock-tober!  She finally tricked us by using the moving flashy box while we were going to eat our dinner.  The short video below is about all we're going to show you of our floofilicious tocks!

Thankful Thursday

We know you're going to be shocked today, but we're posting a picture of a woofie!  Bandit belongs to Grandma Faye and Mom Paula has been woofie sitting him at nights for the past few weeks (staying at his house).  Grandma Faye is in Asheville, NC sitting with her brother, who is near the end of his life.  She doesn't like to put Bandit in the woofie hotel because he always gets sick from the stress after staying there, so Grandma Faye told Mom Paula she'd pay her what she pays the woofie hotel if she'd stay with Bandit.  The only problem is that we don't get to sleep with Mom Paula at night lately. However, we're thankful Bandit has someone like Mom Paula to look after him while Grandma Faye is away.  He is a cute little woofie!

We'd like to ask for special purrs, thoughts, and prayers for Uncle Bill and all of the family.  He's not expected to make it much longer, but it's been a rough few weeks, especially for Grandma Faye.

UPDATE:  Uncle Bill passed away last night and crossed that human bridge to Heaven. Uncle was such a special man.  He lived life to its fullest, enjoyed many friends, loved his family, and was loved by all who met him.  Mom Paula is at peace knowing he's in Heaven but she needs special purrs and prayers because her mom wants her to sing at the funeral this weekend.

Truffle Tuesday

We hope this post works because Mom Paula has to post it from her iPad because she's woofie sitting tonight.  Her human uncle Bill is dying and grandma Faye is in Asheville with him.  Mom Paula hates leaving us at night, but she knows her mom needs help right now.  So, we have the house to ourself a couple of days.  Who wants to trash the house with us (more than it already is)?
You're gone again?

Do You Have To Go?

Mom Paula is going to try to make it a full day at work today after 4 weeks with shoulder pain. We've gotten used to her hanging around the house with us lately and wish she didn't have to go.  Brûlée thinks if she shows her belly and looks cute that Mom Paula will stay home.

Easy Like Sunday

We have a special "Easy Sunday" for you today!  Mom Paula managed to capture both of us snoozing belly up this week.  This is the first time in two years this has happened.  The pictures aren't great quality because she had to grab her phone for the photo, but we thought you'd enjoy our floofy tummies!

Friday at the Movies - Kitty Box Heaven

Another box of calendars just arrived yesterday!  We love having all of these boxes around.

Mom Paula says one of these days she'll get around to cleaning up all of this mess, but for now, we're having fun in kitty box Heaven!

Pee ess - Some of you are wondering about ordering the calendars.  There is a webpage set up for ordering at 365 Days of Cat Blogger Cats.  We've temporarily closed the ordering process until we can catch up with all the calendars that have been ordered.  We hope to open up the orders again next week, so please keep checking back.  We've received payment for almost 70 calendars!

Thankful Thursday

We're thankful Mom Paula's shoulder is hurt so we can play with the boxes in the office that she hasn't thrown away yet.  MOL!  Just kidding - we're not happy that she has a hurty shoulder, but we do like the boxes.

Update on the results of the MRI.  It's good news and bad news.  The good news is that there is no tear in the rotator cuff (which was a concern).  The bad news is that it's the same problem she had with her other shoulder that she had two surgeries on 4 years ago.  The doctor gave Mom Paula another cortisone shot, some anti-inflammatory medication, and physical therapy for one month.  If her shoulder isn't any better at the end of the month, he's recommending surgery to go in and clean out the joint.

Office Assistants

Mom Paula was working from home yesterday on a major report (pushing through her shoulder pain)  and we decided to be the best office assistants you could have.  We only stepped on the computer keyboard one time and we actually froze the keyboard (but that doesn't count).  Mom Paula said
looking at us while she was working was relaxing.

Here's a brighter picture from the other side of the room.
