Daily Grooming Ritual

Many of you have commented about our floof lately and have wondered about how much time Mom Paula takes to groom us.  Keeping our floof beautiful is a lot of hard work on both our part and Mom Paula's part.

It begins each morning with giving ourselves a bath.  So far, Mom Paula hasn't given us a bath, but we know the time will come and we're dreading it (so is Mom Paula!).  We can't believe Mom Paula is sharing this photo of us not looking our best!

Mom Paula keeps a comb, some toenail clippers, and one of our Furminators beside her bed.  Before we even get out of the bed in the morning, she combs us and looks for mats.  The Furminator is great for helping to get those nasty mats out.  Brulee is most relaxed first thing in the morning and she will allow Mom Paula to groom her (we're still working on trimming the claws, though).

At night, Mom Paula uses a pin cushion brush on us.  We tolerate that much better than the comb.  Once again, she may need to use the Furminator to remove some mats.  She also tries to trim our claws in the evening, but that usually ends up being a 3-day job because we're not very patient for the nail clipping.  Sometimes, we're not very cooperative with her and she has to groom us a 3rd time during the day or just wait until the next day.  We let her know when we've had enough!  Truffle tends to "nip" at her and Brulee just squeals like a pig!  MOL.

The result are below!

Truffle

Would you believe we have over 50 pictures for the ball on Saturday?  Mom Paula is going to work on the post tonight.  If you'd still like to participate and have your picture posted on Saturday, you can send us a picture by 5:00 p.m. EST and we'll include it.  We hope we don't forget anyone.  We've tried to respond to everyone when we've received a picture and successfully downloaded it.  If you haven't received a confirmation from us, please email us at sweetpurrfections@sc.rr.com.

Who's There?

Sometimes Brulee stops in the middle of what she's doing and looks toward the ceiling for a few minutes.  I think Sweet Praline is talking to her and giving her advice.  Truffle just thinks she's being weird.

Don't forget to send us your pictures for Truffle's Debutante Ball by midnight tonight!  We'll only have a couple of days to put all of them together for the ball on June 2.  Everyone is still invited to attend even if you don't get your pictures sent to us.  Mom Paula just wants to make this a special even for Truffle's 1st birthday and to thank the CB for being so special.  Email your pictures to us a sweetpurrfections@sc.rr.com.  Be sure to label your picture with your name.  In the email, please include your name, your blog address and a short description of what you'd like to have included on the post.  We're looking forward to seeing everyone.

Hogging the Box

As Mom Paula is cleaning out her home office, she is throwing papers into a box for a shredding party. Brulee keeps claiming the box for her own and won't let me get in it!

Friday at the Movies

We're back to the Yeowww Sardines again!  As you can tell from the video, Truffle LOVES her sardine.  However, as Brulee gets older, she is getting a little bigger and braver than Truffle.  At first Mom Paula was worried when Brulee started towards Truffle with her sardine, but she didn't need to worry because Brulee could take care of herself.

The CB lost a very special furriend, Perfectly Parker, yesterday.  Parker was a good furriend to Sweet Praline and we enjoyed getting to know her too.  Unfortunatley, Parker was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago and it was her time to cross the Bridge.  We know Sweet Praline welcomed her with open paws, but those of us still on earth will miss her terribly.

We're also very concerned about our furriend, Arty Mouse, because she has been missing since Monday and hasn't come home yet.  Please come home Arty Mouse!

Statue Truffle

Truffle has been very mischievous lately.  We think it's because she knows she only has a few more days as a kitten, so she's into everything.  In this photo, she's trying to mimic the cat statue so Mom Paula can't find her.

Dumpster Divas

When Mom Paula was chatting with everyone in the Chatzy Room this weekend, we started getting into mischief and kept jumping into and playing in the trashcan.  When she shared this with everyone, Cory, from Cory Cat Blog, called us Dumpster Divas!  What do you think?

Update on the Debutante Ball:  Responses to the RSVP for the invitation to Truffle's Debutante Ball are starting to come in.  Truffle has even received a request from a special mancat to be her escort for the evening.  Being the diva-in-training she is, she hasn't given him her response yet.

As you send your pictures to us for the ball, please include a short description to go with it.  You can talk about your attire, who you hope to dance with, who your special partner is for the evening, etc.  We thought we'd address the arrivals to the ball in the order we receive your pictures.  Some of the ladycats are looking very fine and we can't even begin to describe the mancats!

And before we go, we want to wish Mom ML a very Happy Birthday!  We hope you have a fantastic day!

You Are Invited

Truffle will be one year old on June 2, 2012.  Mom Paula is sponsoring a Debutante Ball for her.  All ladycats and mancats are invited to attend this special event.  This is a "black tie" affair and we want everyone to dress in their finest attire (either Photoshopped or actual) and email (sweetpurrfections@sc.rr.com) your picture to Mom Paula by May 29.  Please put "Truffle RSVP" in the subject line.  Also, include your name and blog address in the email.  We will post all of your pictures on our blog that day and hope that you'll also post it on your blogs as well.

Some of you may be asking, "what in the world is a debutante?"  Here's a little background for you.  A debutante comes from the French word, d├ębutante, which means female beginner.  A debutante is a young lady from an aristocratic or upper class family who has reached the age of maturity, and as an adult, is introduced to society at a formal "debut" presentation.  Debutante balls exist in nearly every major city in the United States but are more common and a larger affair in the South.  A debutante ball is a formal affair complete with good food and ballroom dancing.  We think a debutante ball is purrfect for Truffle since she was born outside of Charleston, SC (old South) and she comes from royal bloodlines (at least she think she does).  At one year of age, she is moving from kittenhood to becoming a beautiful ladycat.  You'll notice her full name on the invitation.  It's not official yet, but this is the name that is being submitted to the CFA.  We're really looking forward to the ball and hope everyone can come!

Watching Over Mom Paula

It's Monday morning, so Mom Paula is off to work.  We're going to stay right here until she gets back tonight!  This Peggy Blankie was originally sent to Sweet Praline from one of her boyfriends, Romeo, and Mom Paula put it on the bed beside her and we sleep right on top of it every night.  This way, all three of us (Angel Praline, too) are watching over Mom Paula at night.

Update on the Debutante Ball:  The invitations are being sent out today.  We will provide all the details on tomorrow's post, so get your best formal outfit (either Photo Shopped or real) ready and prepare for the event of the season!

Photo Hunt: Magical

Today's Photo Hunt theme is "magical."  We think the bird sounds that come from this little purple ball are magical because we don't see any moving fev-vers!

Stay tuned for details for Truffle's Debutante Ball celebrating her 1st birthday on June 2, 2012.  Start collecting your finest attire for this soiree because we do it right in the South.  We'd like to see the ladycats in their best formal attire (including jewels) and the men in their most dapper tuxedos and suits.  Remember, Truffle is making that transition from a girl kitty to a Southern Ladycat and her dance card is sure to be busy all night!  We're sure the Debutante Ball will be "magical".

Friday at the Movies: That Darn Red Light

We're still trying to figure out that darned red light thing that shows up in our house.  We both think we're pretty smart and quick (for Persians), but no matter how much we try, we just can't catch that darned red light.  Here's a short little video showing our skills and frustration!

Would you believe Mom Paula talked in the Chatzy Room for over two hours last night?  There were a lot of our special furriends and their moms (and NTM) in there.  It was really nice to chat with everyone.  With the help of many of our furriends last night, we've come up with an idea for Truffle's first birthday on June 2.  We're going to have a debutante ball!  Stay tuned for the details.  We need to work everything out.  Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Setting the Record Straight

I don't know what this message on TV is talking about because I've done nothing wrong!  However, who knows what my little sister, Brulee has been up to?

I didn't do it!

Happy Mother's Day

Today is a very special day when we honor our mothers!  We thought we'd share all of our mothers (both kitty and human) with you.  We wouldn't be here without them.

Truffle's mom is a beautiful silver shaded Persian named Chloe.  Here is a picture of me with my little brother, Beignet (who is at the Bridge with Sweet Praline now), on the day we were born with our beautiful kitty mom, Chloe.

Brulee's mom is an amazing golden shaded Persian named Mikayla.  Here is a picture of me with my two sisters and one brother a couple of days old with my mom, Mikayla.

Our first human mom was Mom Terri!  She took wonderful care of us the first 12 weeks of our lives.  She doesn't usually send pictures of herself with the kittens, but we found this one on Facebook of Terri with her lovely daughter, Kristina.  (We hope you don't mind, Mom Terri)

And then, there is our forever mom, Mom Paula!  We couldn't ask for a better mom who takes care of us in the best way possible.  She spoils us like we deserve, grooms us to stay beautiful, sacrifices her own needs for ours, and loves us with all her heart.  We thought we'd share a picture of both of us with Mom Paula comparing how much we've grown since November when the two of us came to live with her.  We love you, Mom Paula!

Mom Paula:  I also wanted to take a moment to tell my own mother, Faye, how much I love her!

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!

Photo Hunt: Scoop

It would be so easy to show you what Mom Paula has to "scoop" out of our kitty boxes, but we'll spare you those photos.  Instead, here's a picture of our kitty boxes that must be "scooped" every day with two of us.

The first litter box is in the front of the house and we love to use it when Mom Paula has company!  MOL!
Get your scoop ready, Mom Paula!

Our second litter box is in Mom Paula's bedroom and she bought it for Sweet Praline when they moved in our house in 2003.  We love this litter box because we have a private entry with plenty of room.  When the lid is down, we can use it as a piece of furniture to look out the window.  However, when Mom Paula opens the lid to "scoop" our box, we immediately come running and give her reason to "scoop" again.
Hurry up Little Sis, I need to go!

Friday at the Movies - Playing on the Ess

We apologize for the missing Friday at the Movies last week.  Mom Paula was in D.C. and forgot to post the movie and didn't have anything available on her little netbook computer.  So, after a little commerical break, we are bring back the feature movie of us playing on our new Ess from Chey, Gemini, and Ichiro

Thank you so much for thinking of us and sending your "unused" Ess to us.  We love it very much.  Oh yes, Ichiro, we did find your floof on the Ess and Brulee has been adding some of her on to it!

Watching Baseball and Remembering Fin

We thought it was bad enough that Mom Paula watched college football all the time, but now we're watching college baseball, too!  Brulee decided she wanted to play on her Ess, but I (Truffle) thought I'd check out the action on the TV.  There were a lot of moving "creatures" inside this box.
Our South Carolina baseball team is doing very well.  They are ranked in the top 5 in the nation and won the College World Series the past two years.

When the commercial came on, we both started playing on our Esses!  But of course my little sister, Brulee, is still trying to "strike the pose" for her glamour shots!  Little sisters!

We want to take a moment to remember Fin from Housecat Confidential, who crossed the Bridge on Monday.  We didn't know Fin that well, but our sister-before-us, Sweet Praline was great furriends with Fin.  They were both the floofy senior ladycats of the CB for several years.  In fact, Fin served with Sweet Praline on Madam Coco's staff back in 2009.  Sweet Praline was the Minister of Floofy Affairs and Fin was the Secretary of the Interior.  They had so much fun at the Inaugural Ball.  We're sure they are both "reigning" over the Rainbow Bridge now and that brings a smile to our face during this sad time. We are sending comforting purrs to Mom Meg.

Strike the Pose

We decided to work with Mom Paula this weekend and "pose" for a glamor shot!  We think we did pretty well by turning our heads back over our shoulder for that purrfect glamor pose!

Truffle - 11 months

Money, Money!

We were watching Celebrity Apprentice with Mom Paula last night and we wanted to know what this "money" stuff was about because we don't see too much of it around here except for the hard stuff that Mom Paula puts in our rainy day jar!
This is our "rainy day" money jar that Mom Paula has had for many years!

I don't see what's so special about this jar.  I don't smell any treats!

We had entirely too much fun at KC's house and all of the other parties on the CB yesterday so we're going to take it easy today.

Our First Cinco de Mayo

We are so excited about celebrating our first Cinco de Mayo!  Even though Truffle is 11 months old and Brulee is 8 months old now, Mom Paula says we're still a little too young to have niptinis!  However, we think there is plenty of the nip around here!  Have a fun day!  We're on our way over to KC's house to party.

Mom Paula says we are a couple of chiquitas!  She was in a Mexican restaurant last week and when she walked by some of the male servers, one of them called her a Chiquita.  Mom Paula contacted a few of her friends to see if this was a compliment or an insult and they assured her it was a compliment.  Chiquita means "small and cute".  Mom Paula is only 4 ft 11 inches tall!  We're only 5 pounds, so we think it's okay if Mom Paula calls us "chiquitas".

Bad Mom

We had a special movie for you today of us playing on our new Ess, but Mom Paula forgot to set it up and she's out of town.  We pulled up our post this morning and realized nothing was there!  Bad Mom Paula!  Unfortunately, she can't get to the file with all of our photos, so she sent us this picture text message she received from our pet sitter, DJ.  We'll try to post the video this weekend.

We're contemplating what we should do to get back at Mom Paula  We've heard there is something called a "house trashing" party.  Do you think we can get one together at short moment?

Thankful Thursday

We are very thankful for our furriends:  Chey, Gemini, and Ichiro and their mom Bonnie for our surprise package this week.  Many of you may remember our post where we were telling Mom Paula that we needed two Esses.  Mom Paula agrees, but with two lady gardenectomies since January and multiple medical tests for Mom Paula, the green papers are a little tight, so she told us we needed to share. Pffffffttttttt!

Chey's mom sent Mom Paula a message and told her they had an Ess that none of them used and we could have it if we wanted it!  Mom Paula read this to us and we immediately started climbing on the keyboard to send Chey a message that we'd love it.  That's what we received in our surprise box this past weekend along with a few toys (which Truffle has already carried off into other areas of the house).

The only problem is that now we both want to play on this one!  MOL!  Thank you so much, Chey, Ichiro, Gemini, and Mom Bonnie!  We love our new Ess.
