Sunny Days

We had a beautiful sunny weekend, so Mom Paula opened the doors and let us enjoy the sun puddles!

Can you tell us apart by our profile?

Photo Hunt - Texture

Imagine the texture of a soft cotton ball and that's what our floof feels like.

Doesn't this big ball of floof from a recent grooming session remind you of the texture of bunches of cotton balls?  Mom Paula says she wants to take all of our floof and stuff a pillow to sleep on because the texture is so soft.

Friday at the Movies - Yeowww Sardines

Our extra Yeowww Sardines came in this week and we were thrilled.  The video today is a little long, but we encourage you to watch it through to see beginning to end on how we reacted to the sardines.  In the beginning, Truffle started attacking the tin the sardines were in.  Once the tin was opened, Truffle was the first to grab her pick of the sardines.  Then Brulee became interested and she grabbed two of them.  We were doing fine, rolling around on the floor, but then Brulee became a little excited and Mom Paula was concerned because Brulee was still recuperating from her lady gardenectomy.  Mom Paula put the sardines back in the tin and thought the girls were calm.  WRONG!!!  The video goes black as Mom Paula throws the flip camera down when Truffle started "attacking" Brulee.  We must admit, it was funny seeing Mom Paula moving that fast, but we don't like hearing her say no so much.  Everyone was okay, but Mom Paula put up the sardines until Brulee has completely healed.  We hope you enjoy our video today.  We just love our Yeowww Sardines.  Everything we've received from Nip and Bones has been excellent!

If you look closely, you'll see Brulee's little pink belly from her surgery.  Mom Paula promised she'd pull our sardines back out of the tin in a couple of weeks.  We were just having fun!

Have a great weekend!

Thankful Thursday

We want to thank everyone who participated in "Show Your Diva" yesterday in celebration of Sweet Praline's life.  We tried to visit everyone in our google reader and those who posted a link on the CB who participated.  Please let us know if we missed you!  Thanks to all of your posts, Mom Paula smiled a lot yesterday.

We still have a long way to go before becoming full divas, but for now, we enjoy being divas-in-training!

Pee ess - Brulee continues to do well in her recuperation from her lady gardenectomy.  She had her last dose of pain medication last night.  Thank you for your continued purrs.

Show Your Diva

Today is the one year anniversary of Sweet Praline going to the Bridge.  Even though it was a very sad day for Mom Paula and the CB last year, we want to give her a reason to smile today, so we're sponsoring the "Show Your Diva" day in celebration of Sweet Praline's 15.5 years with Mom Paula.

When Mom Paula saw one of Truffle's first pictures as a kitten at 3 weeks of age, she just knew Sweet Praline was reaching out to her through Truffle.  Just look at that pose and "happy face" with her crown.
Truffle at 3 weeks of age - definitely a "Diva in Training"

Truffle walks around the house like royalty, literally prancing as she walks.  When she runs, her long, silky floof just flows.   She insists on eating her stinky goodness from the fine china, while Mom Paula eats off of paper plates.  One of these days, Mom Paula is going to learn how to use Photo Shop, but in the meantime, here is a fun picture of Truffle showing her Diva!

Brulee had that cute little flat face, which reminded Mom Paula of Sweet Praline.  Just look at that little "happy face" pout!  Brulee was so shy when Mom Paula first went down to meet all of Mikayla's kittens to see who would come home to live with us.
Brulee at 5 weeks of age

Brulee has definitely come out of her shell and reminds Mom Paula of Sweet Praline more each day.  Brulee doesn't like to be held or brushed, but insists on staying right beside Mom Paula wherever she is in the house.  If Mom Paula goes to the back of the house, Brulee will call out to her until Mom Paula calls her name and then Brulee comes running to that part of the house, forgetting her "diva" attitude for a few seconds.  One of Mom Paula's friends, Cindy, calls Brulee "Miss Attitude".

Here's Brulee's fun Diva picture for today.  Notice her "happy face" pout as she continues to grow into a beautiful ladycat diva.

Please take a moment to visit Sweet Praline's blog today as Mom Paula re-posts the LOLs from Wendy.  She was always able to capture Praline's Diva attitude.

Brulee is Home!

My little sister, Brulee, is back home from getting her lady gardenectomy.  The vet tech sent Mom Paula a text message with a photo attached (see yesterday's update) and Mom Paula couldn't believe how bright-eyed Brulee was.  Mom Paula picked Brulee up around 4:45 pm yesterday afternoon and the vet tech, Lisa, said that Brulee was doing great.  Mom Paula mentioned that she seemed so bright eyed and the Lisa said that Brulee was very sociable.  She said that all of the other cats were at the back of their cages and Brulee was right at the front watching everything that went on.

I (Truffle) was so excited to see my little sister.  I greeted her with a lick on her head and never hissed once.  Several times yesterday, Mom Paula would look over and I was giving Brulee a comforting kiss on her head.  Brulee has been very alert and doesn't appear to be hurting.  She is still required to have a pain pill twice a day for a few days and Mom Paula has to check her belly regularly and try to make sure she isn't too active (like that's going to happen).  We're hoping she doesn't have to get a "cone" around her neck.

The two pictures below are of Brulee yesterday afternoon (taken on Mom Paula's cell phone) as soon as she came out of her PTU from the vet.  We think she looks great!

Of course, I had to strut a little of my stuff to remind Mom Paula that I was also here!

Brulee's Lady Gardenectomy Today

Update:  I received the following text message and picture from the vet about Brulee this morning.  I'm going to pick her up in about an hour.  Poor little Truffle tried to follow me out the door when I was leaving with Brulee and when I came back home to take a shower, Truffle was searching for Brulee.  I think she loves her little sister.

Brulee is going to the vet today for her lady gardenectomy.  Mom Paula has to have her there between 7:30-8:00 am.  We'll update you after we hear from the vet.
Wasn't I just in here last week?

Hurry Home, Little Sister

Mom Paula:  I don't know what I was thinking when I scheduled Brulee's surgery the same week as the anniversary of Sweet Praline going to the Bridge.  Am I crazy???  I know she'll be okay, but I won't relax until she's safely out of surgery and the anesthesia.

Easy Like Sunday

Mom Paula is home and we're going to take it easy with her today after playing for a while because Brulee's lady gardenectomy is tomorrow.

Photo Hunt - Reflect

We went back a couple of months for today's theme of "reflect."  When it's nice and sunny outside, we like to look through the big storm door.  When Mom Paula uses the flashy box to take our picture, her shoes (and baggy pants) reflect on the door.

Friday at the Movies - Freeze Dried Chicken Treats

When we participated in the weekend to support Nip and Bones, Mom Paula picked out some new freeze-dried chicken treats for us.  We love these treats.  They are very healthy for us because they are 100% pure white chicken.

As you can see from the video below, we really like these treats.  They are much larger than the Pure Bite freeze dried chicken treats we like, so Mom Paula breaks them in half for our little mouths.  As you can see, Truffle (the little pig) tried to eat it too quickly and was gagging.  The funny part is that Brulee quickly took advantage of the situation and grabbed Truffle's treat from the floor.  This is unusual for Brulee because she is usually the patient one when it comes to treats.

Preferred Position on the PTU

We much prefer sitting on top of the PTU than traveling inside of it to the vet!

Wordless Wednesday (almost)

Mom Paula is on the road again, so our pet sitter, DJ, will be checking on us for a couple of days.  Brulee did well at the vet yesterday and now weighs 5.31 pounds.  If the bloodwork goes well, she is scheduled to go back for her lady gardenectomy on April 23 at 8:00 am.

Pee ess - Mom Paula finally got one of the two medications she was prescribed last week!

Blood Work for Brulee

Watch out little sister!  Mom Paula has pulled out the PTU and the door is open.  That's a trick she used on me when she was taking me to the vet.  I'll see if I can bite the door off of the hinges so she can't trap you in here today!

Oops!  It didn't work.  You better run before Mom Paula closes that door and locks you in!

Brulee goes to the vet this morning for her pre-surgery bloodwork before her lady gardenectomy next Monday.

Cleaning Out the Closet

Many of you will remember the junk closet that Sweet Praline liked to hide in.  Mom Paula has agreed to let us share this picture again.  There was a lot of junk in here, as well as some good stuff!  Mom Paula's dad built these shelves for her when she was still a college professor.  But once she left teaching, things just piled up.

When Sweet Praline left for the Bridge last April, Mom Paula slowly started purging all of the "old" stuff in the closet, but could never find the time, energy, or emotional support to clean it out.  We loved playing in this junk closet because Mom Paula couldn't find us.

With our help, Mom Paula has begun working on the junk closet with the following results.
Where are all of my hidey places?

Little Sister, something is amiss here!

Even though we no longer have all of the "junk" on the floor, we're proud of Mom Paula.  For the first time in years, she can actually close the door.  She still needs to digitize all of those accompaniment cassette tracks, but that will take a while.  Now to work on the pile of papers on the chair!

Easy Like Sunday

We're taking it easy today and hope you will, too!
 Brulee

Truffle

Mom Paula has been a little under the weather the past few days and has been taking it easy with us.  She must travel to Atlanta this week for a meeting, so she's hoping she feels better soon.  We're trying to find a way to sneak into her luggage to travel with her.

Photo Hunt - Sturdy

I'm really glad our cat tree is very sturdy and holds up to our running up and down it!  I like to hang out on top of the tree all the time.

On the other hand, I'm not so sure this box fort is very sturdy.  Uh, big sister, are you under there?

Pee ess - Mom Paula still doesn't have her medicine!

Friday at the Movies - Yeowww Sardine

We recently participated in the weekend to help out Baby Patches and her mom by purchasing a few items from their store, Nip and Bones.  Mom Paula only ordered one Yeowww Sardine.  As you can see from the video below, Truffle loves the Yeowww Sardine.  She immediately grabbed it from the box and started playing with it.

The frog sound you hear near the end was one of the toys we won in an auction!

The second video is of both Truffle and Brulee biting the Yeowww Sardine.  We both love this toy so much that Mom Paula put it back in the box until she can get a second one for both of us to play with.  Mom Paula also has a little scratch on her finger from us trying to grab it out of her fingers (a nail clipping immediately followed the video).

Box Fort

Many of you commented about our box fort yesterday.  Mom Paula just can't bring herself to throw these boxes away because we enjoy them so  much.  She recently took them out of the hallway and put them on top of the bed thinking we'd ignore them.  As you can see from the pictures below, that didn't work.

Pee ess - Would you believe the pharmacy is out of one of the medicines Mom Paula needs and the other medication the insurance doesn't want to pay for?  Mom Paula isn't too happy right now (in between coughing).

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Wordless Wednesday (almost)

Note about Mom Paula:  Thank you for all of your thoughts and purrs yesterday.  Mom Paula went to the pulmonologist yesterday and had bunches of tests!  The doctor thinks there is nothing seriously wrong (not even an allergy to us!) and thinks it's a simple diagnosis of "post nasal drip" and has prescribed two medications to take for a month and her cough should be gone (after 9 months of continuous coughing).  If this doesn't work, the doctor will have to look into her lungs more closely.  Please keep those purrs coming.

Hanging Around on the Ess

We love our Ess!  Even thought it's designed for scratching (which we do use it for that), we view it as another piece of furniture for us to play on.  The only problem is that we only have one of them and we are getting bigger and it's harder to share now than when we first came to live with Mom Paula.
This is my Ess because I was here first.

Uhhhhhh - Big sister;  you move, you lose!

Let the "queen of the Ess" wars begin!

Pee ess - Brulee's lady gardenectomy is scheduled in two weeks, so please start those purrs that everything will go well.

Pee pee ess - Mom Paula is going to another specialist tomorrow to see if she can find out why she's coughing so much.  She's already told her regular doctor if it's an allergy to us then he just better give her some medicine because we're not going anywhere.

Not Me Strikes Again

Mom Paula had a surprise on the living room floor when she woke up this morning.  It's not what you think (luckily, we aren't throwing up hairballs - yet).  Mom Paula usually leaves the treat bag on the end table beside the couch so it's convenient for her to get to it after our grooming.  Someone literally dug into the bag of treats overnight and this is the result.

It wasn't me!  I was just hanging out on my Ess, minding my own business.

What are you looking at me for?  It definitely wasn't me.

Pee ess - For those of you who'd like to hear Mom Paula singing her duet from yesterday, you can find it at this link - http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=2932387557659.  Now to get prepared for her solo this week.

Remember we'll be celebrating Sweet Praline's life through the activity of "Show Your Diva" on April 25, 2012, which will be the year anniversary of her going to the Bridge.

We also want to wish a very happy birthday to Marg.

When there is an animal in need ~ it comes to Marg's door.
When there is an animal lost ~ it seeks out Marg.
When there is an animal wanting loving care ~ it will find that with Marg.
A special lady who never turns away any animal ~ the cats, the dogs, the goats, the donkeys, all are welcomed by her.
None are special ~ all are special.

Marg is always doing for others, organizing and running auctions to raise funds in support of others in need, never asking for anything in return.   We want to wish Marg a very Happy Birthday.

Our mom was very lucky to meet Marg in person and she is as nice as everyone says.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter to all of our furriends.
Thank you for our graphic, Ann!
