Friday at the Movies - Thirsty Cat Fountain

We are so excited to tell you about the new fountain we received from Thirsty Cat Fountains to review.  Many of you will remember that Truffle began developing feline acne on her chin a couple of months ago.  We started searching for causes of this and everything we read talked about using plastic dishes.  We knew it wasn't our food dishes because we eat out of the china.  However, our cat fountain bowl was made of plastic.  Mom Paula began searching for possible fountains made of something other than plastic and she discovered the ceramic fountains at Thirsty Cat Fountains.  Keith sent us this beautiful blue ceramic fountain with the Cat Cat Tap add-on in addition to the traditional copper spout that comes with the fountain.  We'd love to purchase the Two Cat Cat Tap add-on when there are more green papers so both of us can enjoy the water flow at the same time.

Each fountain is 100% food-safe and handmade, which makes each one unique.  The pumps are the highest quality aquarium pumps available and have a polarized, two prong plug.  We were amazed at how quiet this pump was.  The only sound you hear is the water flowing.  The copper spouts are the same copper that is used in plumbing of upscale homes and have proven to be a natural anti-microbial.  All the glazes used are 100% food-safe.  Each fountain comes with the pump, a pump-hide/pre-filter, anti-microbial copper spout, and a ceramic leaf (to cover the cord for visual appeal).
Brulee and the fountain with the cat cat tap add-on
Just as soon as Mom Paula plugged in the fountain, we came running to check it out.  We didn't shy away from it at all because all we heard was the water falling.  Mom Paula put the traditional copper spout on the fountain first and let us check it out.  The traditional copper spout mimics a natural spring and allows the water to "bubble up".   In the video below, Truffle investigates first and then Brulee takes over the fountain.  As you can tell, she not only drinks from it, she likes to play in it.

Mom Paula then changed to the Cat Cat Tap add-on, which mimics a water fall.  We preferred this spout because we love to drink from flowing water.

We LOVE this fountain and it makes Mom Paula happy because she knows it's healthy for us!  Keith is offering a special discount for anyone who buys a fountain from him using the special code "purrfections" for a 10% discount.  Please visit his website at http://www.etsy.com/shop/CatFountains# and consider purchasing one of these beautiful handmade fountains.

As you can see from the video below, both of us love drinking from our Thirsty Cat Ceramic Water Fountain.  Thank you to Keith for sending us one to try out, review and to keep.

  2. How nice! We were interested in these fountains a while back for the same reasons, but the fellow wasn't very helpful and never got back to us about shipping costs :(

  3. I spent a bunch of $$ on the stainless steel fountain and NONE of them would use it. I was also very nervous about electricity so close to their water so I ended up tossing it out. They're back to their usual Longaberger bowl...

    and my water glasses.

    *sigh*

  5. Ooohhh how exciting. Quite awhile ago, he sent us a fountain to review and we ADORE our fountain! Just love it!!!!!! Figgy hogs it all the time but the rest of us get to drink out of it too. It's beautiful, easy to clean....love it! You are so lucky to get one too.

We keep ours in the bathroom because mom found that we drink tons more if the fountain is not in the kitchen with our food.

  7. That looks a great fountain - we had a fountain ages ago but we didn't like it - mind you it wasn't anywhere near as nice as that one and it was plastic. We are ceramic bowl drinkers now.

  9. D'artagnan I get shipping quotes for people all the time and I never neglect a customer or potential customer so I must never have received your request. The glowing customer feedback on our Etsy shop is testimony enough how seriously we feel about customer service - before during and after a transaction.

  12. This reminds me of my beloved Tabitha. She preferred to drink out of the vanity faucet. I don't think she ever drank out of their bowl.

  19. This looks like a great fountain. We have a fountain and we use it...but not as much as the mom would like. One thing about our fountain is that it's noisy...we can hear the pump motor humming. We'd love one that was quiet. We'll check these out.

  24. We have water bowls that look like water fountains cause someone (Oui Oui) sits on the sides of bowls and tips them over, even untippable ones. Those do look like fun though . . .

  26. How lucky a bunch of you were to have been sent on to review.

Mom has been looking for something non plastic as a drinking fountain for us because Othello gets acne form plastic bowls.

We adore those fountains Keith makes and we do not fear the price but with us being in Austria, Europe we fear shipping costs will kill us on that one. :(

We are glad Truffle and Brulee love their new fountain! It really looks like the enjoy it quite much! :)

  27. Yes agree with Astrid and the kitties Kashim...I adore those fountains Keith makes, too and am sooooo glad to find such a good fountain producer .

I know it would cost a lot in shipping (me being in Hong Kong), but when I seriously calculated the recurring costs for the filter of commercial fountains like drinkwell, which need filter replacement for every two weeks, then I found that just the filter itself costs quite a lot for just one year.

If my cat likes the fountain and is willing to drink more because of it, it worths every penny : )

dArtagnan Rumblepurr - Keith is very kind and willing to help customer out for query, as to my experience. It might be that your message was lost in transmission, like what I experienced. I sent him an email and he got back to me but I never received his email. Then I left a message to him again and received his reply then...

  28. I want that water fountain for my cat, because my pet don't like his bowl and can't drink a lot of water. I think this one will like him a lot.

  29. The bowls you are showing on this page are lovely, however, I have been reading in this Hubpages cat fountain article that a cat fountain is a good investment for lots of health reasons. Luckily my cat has not suffered from some of the problems that these fountains are designed to avoid but I am still thinking of purchasing one as your cats' enthusiasm for drinking from one has given my confidence that my cat would like a cat fountain too!
