World Spay Day

Sparkle told us on FB that today is World Spay Day and to post our pictures from when we were spayed.  World Spay Day is an annual campaign of the Humane Society of the United States and the Humane Society International that shines a spotlight on spay/neuter - a proven way to save the lives of companion animals, feral cats, and street dogs who might otherwise be put down in a shelter or killed on the street.

Truffle was spayed on January 30, 2012.  Our vet now uses laser surgery and internal stitches for spaying and he shaved very little from Truffle's tummy.  Mom Paula tried to get a couple of pictures of Truffle's belly, but it was difficult with all of her floof.

We also wanted to share a picture of Sweet Praline after her spay surgery.  You can tell the picture is 16 years old, but we just had to include our sister-before-us in this post.

Brulee is scheduled for her spay surgery on April 23, 2012.

  1. Wow! That is so much less than when Gemini was spayed. Chey came to us that way and of course our last girls were spayed more than ten years ago!

  4. Wow, spays have come a LONG way since I was spayed in 2003! And of course, Truffle has so much floof too, to cover up the bare spot. Love the vintage Praline shot!

  6. So wonderful to hear about the new technology being used. Mommy still recoils at the memories of Bronzy's botched surgery.

  8. The lady gardenectomies sure have improved over the years. As much as the moms would love to have cute little kittens running under foot, the world doesn't need more to add to the overpopulation. Great pet responsibility, Mom Paula!

  11. Sweet Praline's cuteness isn't diminished by the years, nor her shaved belleh. It's wonderful the progress that has been made since then. The process is much less invasive and recoFURRY is so much quicker!
