The Dessert Twins - Week 11

Week 11 was when Beignet's lump was discovered and he had his first surgery and we "patiently" awaited the results of the pathology report.  He survived his first surgery wonderfully and I even went down that weekend with my mom to visit Truffle and Beignet and have shared pictures from that visit in a previous post.  I also had the cutest video of Truffle and Beignet at my feet during our visit with Truffle relaxing to my touch and Beignet being a little boy and playing with my fingers.  After my visit on Saturday, Mom Terri sent me the Week 11 pictures of Truffle and Beignet, together again.  They were just adorable in these pictures and were truly living up to their nicknames of the "Dessert Twins."  On Monday, we discovered the lump was cancerous and on Tuesday, sweet Beignet crossed the Bridge during surgery.  I hope you enjoy the last pictures of Beignet and Truffle together.  Truffle is on the left and Beignet is on the right.

Even though these pictures may bring some sadness, they also bring a huge smile to my face because he was such a cute little guy who never let any of this get him down.  He kept his wonderful, playful personality up until he went under the anesthesia.

Beignet:  You are missed, my sweet Beignet, but you will always be loved.

Pee ess - Truffle had her second vaccination (along with her half siblings) on Monday and I'm happy to report that all of the kittens are doing wonderful.  Mom Terri will deliver Truffle to her new forever home on Sunday and I'm taking vacation next week so the two of us can have a lot of special time together getting to know each other.

  1. Oh Truffle is the luckiest cat ever! And yes we are sad about Beignet but we know that he had a wonderful if all together too short life. Oh and now your feed is showing up earlier again (although a few minutes past 9. Isn't that weird?)

  6. Although it's so sad seeing Beignet, after reflecting for some time, maybe it is for the best that he went so suddenly. And that Terri insisted that the lump be tested in the first place. If the vets had not bothered testing it, or if he had made it through the surgery, chances are he may have had long weeks or months of suffering. Especially if the lump had not been tested at all. And that would have been excruciating for everyone. At least we can remember him as the happy, playful boy he was, and not have it tempered by any other sad memories. Purrs to you and Terri.

  29. Beignet was a beautiful boy. He has an angels face. Sometimes the hardess thing to accept is that not everything we want or need is meant to be. I feel like Praline and Beignet will send you and Truffle another baby to love in time. I know that the memories of him will live in your heart forever.
